Why Inconel 690 / 2.4642 for Indian nuclear, petrochemical and chemical projects

Inconel 690 is a high-chromium (29%) Ni-Cr-Fe alloy with the best PWSCC resistance among common nickel alloys, plus outstanding resistance to nitric acid, high-temperature oxidation, sulfidation and nitridation. For India's nuclear build-out, fertiliser/nitric-acid plants and petrochemical heaters, N06690 suits steam-generator tubesheets and channel heads, reactor-coolant-pump parts, and acid-service heat-exchanger internals.

Chemistry (typical, wt%): Ni 58, Cr 2731, Fe 711, C 0.05. Properties (annealed): Rm 586 MPa, yield 240 MPa, elongation 30%, density 8.19 g/cm. Solution annealed 1040 C; not age-hardenable.

Manufactured to ASTM B166 / B564, EN 2.4642 and nuclear material requirements; 100% NDT; EN 10204-3.1 / 3.2 MTRs; third-party inspection on request. Inconel 690, Alloy 690, UNS N06690 and W.Nr. 2.4642 are the same grade.
