EN26 is a 2.5% Ni-Cr-Mo through-hardening high-tensile steel with high hardenability, reaching tensile strengths from 850 to over 1,550 MPa with toughness retained in very large sections, and higher tensile than 4140, 4340 or EN25. For India's aerospace, defence, oil & gas and heavy-machinery sectors, 826M40 suits crankshafts, heavy-duty gears, connecting rods, turbine discs, high-strength fasteners and ordnance parts.

Chemistry (BS 970, wt%): C 0.360.44, Si 0.100.35, Mn 0.450.70, Ni 2.302.80, Cr 0.500.80, Mo 0.450.65. Hardened-and-tempered (Condition V 1,0001,150 MPa, Rc 3138; up to >1,550 MPa). Harden 820850 C oil; nitride ~490530 C to ~Rc 60. EN/Werkstoff equivalent 1.6745 / 40NiCrMo10-5; no exact AISI equal.

Standards & quality

Manufactured to BS 970 (and 1.6745); EAF + LF + VD melting (ESR/PESR or VIM+PESR on request); 100% UT; EN 10204-3.1 / 3.2 MTRs. 826M40 and EN26 are the same grade.
